HOUSE INFORMATION

Welcome.

Our House Manager will either meet you upon your arrival or within thirty minutes of your arrival.  Please text the House Manager's cell to let us know when you expect to arrive.The House Manager will walk you quickly through the house. 
 
She is also able to receive a grocery delivery and put away groceries.  (Please see SERVICES or grocery.  Our service are at fee for the House Manager's time.)
 
 
 
ENTERING THE PROPERTY - 
 
FRONT GATE:

THERE IS A CALL BOX ON THE LEFT SIDE AS YOU GO UP THE FRONT STAIRS.:

 

PLEASE PRESS punch in your code followed by the # key.  You will hear a little chime that you have been successful.

AND THE GATE WILL OPEN

​

If someone comes to the gate they will RING and you will be able to see them on the monitor in the office.  From this monitor you can communicate with them as well as unlock the gate.

​

IN CASE THE GATE CALL BOX HAS AN ISSUE:

 

PLEASE CONTACT the Property Manager or Owner and they can remotely open the gate.

LOCK BOX:   (this is just a back up if needed)

THE LOCK BOX CODE IS 020703

 

FRONT DOOR:

THERE ARE TWO KEY PADS ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE DOOR.  BOTH KEYPADS HAVE THE SAME ENTRANCE CODES.  (The top keypad is for the upper lock.  The bottom keypad for the bottom lock.). PLEASE ENTER THE LAST FIVE DIGITS OF YOUR PHONE NUMBER FOLLOWED BY THE RED BUTTON IN THE LOWER RIGHT HAND CORNER. (If you have been given two codes; the top lock will be the last FOUR digits of your phone number.  The bottom lock will be an independent code.  I am sorry for the inconvenience some names create a glitch in the program.)

 

YOUR CODE WILL NOT ACTIVATE UNTIL YOUR CHECKIN TIME.  AND WILL DEACTIVATE THIRTY MINUTES AFTER YOUR CHEK OUT TIME.

 

1.  PLEASE NOTE THAT THE FRONT DOOR WILL AUTOMATICALLY CLOSE AND LOCK WITHIN A MINUTE, but we would suggest hitting the red button on both keypads to lock the doors.

 

2.  IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO KEEP THE DOOR OPEN, PLEASE USE THE STOPPER AT THE FOOT OF THE DOOR AND/OR THE HOOK BEHIND THE DOOR.  PLEASE BE AWARE THE LOCK WILL STILL ENGAGE.  WHEN CLOSING THE DOOR PLEASE TURN THE LOCK INTO THE NON-LOCK POSITIONP RIOR TO SHUTTING THE DOOR SO THE LOCK BOLT DOES NOT SLAM AGANST THE DOOR JAM.

 

3.  I F YOU WOULD LIKE TO KEEP THE TOP OF THE DUTCH DOOR OPEN PLEASE USE THE HOOK ON THE BACK OF THE DOOR.  THESE DOORS ARE SET UP TO CLOSE AUTOMATICALLY.  PLEASE REMEMBER THE DEADBOLT WILL AUTOMATICALLY ENGAGE EVEN IF THE DOOR IS NOT SHUT.

 

4.  TO LOCK OR UNLOCK THE TOP DEADBOLT FROM INSIDE THE HOUSE JUST TURN IT EITHER RIGHT OR LEFT.

 

5.  THERE IS A PULL DOWN SCREEN IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO KEEP THE DUCHT DOOR OPEN.  PLEASE PULL THE SCREEN DOWN SLOWLY.

 

ALARM:

THE ALARM WILL NOT BE ACTIVATED UPON YOUR ARRIVAL. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO USE THE ALARM WHILE YOU ARE STAYING AT THE HOUSE PLEASE LET US KNOW PRIOR TO YOU ARRIVAL AND WE WILL SET UP A PERSONAL TEMPORARY CODE FOR YOU.  WE DO ASK THAT WHENEVER YOU LEAVE THE HOUSE THAT YOU LOCK THE WINDOWS and DOORS OF THE HOUSE:  FRONT DOOR, BACK DOOR, BEROOM DOOR.

 

IF SETTING THE ALARM - PLEASE HIT “STAY” IF YOU ARE SETTING THE ALARM FOR THE NIGHT (STAYING IN THE HOME) OR "AWAY" TO LEAVE THE HOME.  REMEMBER ANY WINDOW OR DOOR YOU OPEN WILL SET OFF THE ALARM.  THE ONLY DOORS WITH A GRACE PERIOD PRIOR TO THE ALARM GOING OFF IS THE FRONT DOOR AND THE DOOR TO THE LAUNDRY ROOM.  WHEN THE FRONT DOOR IS OPENED, THE ALARM DOES BEEP REMINDING YOU THAT THE ALARM NEEDS TO BE TURNED OFF.

 

**IF THE ALARM GOES OFF ACCIDENTALLY PLEASE NOTIFY THE OWNER RIGHT AWAY.  THE POLICE DO COME, AND WILL CHARGE A FALSE ALARM FEE - YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS FEE.

 

 

OPENING THE GATE FROM THE INSIDE OF THE HOUSE:

IF YOU ARE EXPECTING SOMEONE, PLEASE HAVE THEM USE THE BOX AT THE GATE (LEFT SIDE).  THEIR ARRIVAL WILL BE ANNOUNCED OVER THE ON THE MONITOR IN THE OFFICE.  IF THEY USE THE RING - THAT IS FINE.  ALEXA WILL ANNOUNCE “VISITOR AT THE GATE.”  THE RELEASE BUTTON IS TO THE RIGHT OF THE FRONT DOOR (LAST BUTTON TO THE RIGHT.).

 

OPENING THE GATE FROM THE OUTSIDE OF THE HOUSE:

THERE IS ALSO A BUTTON OUTSIDE HIDDEN SLIGHTLY BY THE TREE CLOSEST TO THE DRIVEWAY (in the yard).

 

DOORS:

Back Door:

  1. Please make certain back door is locked when leaving the house. The knob should be horizontal and the handle should not move. When you close the door lift the handle up - that sets the lock before you lock - and pull towards you.  Then lock the door.  Do not force the lock.  If the lock  doesn’t go all the way just pull the door towards you just a little more.  It’s not closed all the way.

 

Laundry Room Door:

  1. This door should remain unlocked throughout your stay.  If by chance it locks and locks you out of the house - there is a key in the yellow box on the wall.  Just return the key once you have unlocked the door.

 

Bedroom Door:

  1. Please make certain Primary Bedroom French doors are locked if you leave the home.  When you close the door lift the handle up - that sets it up before you lock.  Then lock the door.  The knob should be close to horizontal.  Do not force the lock.  If the lock  doesn’t go all the way just pull the door in a little more.  It’s not closed all the way.

1.  We have invisable screens which can be pulled together.

 

Front Door:

4. OUTSIDE:  THERE IS A KEY PAD ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE DOOR.  PLEASE ENTER THE LAST FIVE DIGITS OF YOUR PHONE NUMBER.  YOUR CODE WILL NOT ACTIVATE UNTIL YOUR CHECKIN TIME.

 

1.  PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS DOOR WILL AUTOMATICALLY CLOSE AND LOCK WITHIN ONE MINUTE.

THERE IS A PULL DOWN SCREEN IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO KEEP THE DUCH DOOR OPEN.  It is best to use the screen if you are going to keep the top open - birds have been known to fly inside the house for a visit.

 

** Please remember to use the latch the top and bottom together again.

 

DURING THE DAY:

Some days we have solicitors and other days nothing.  If you are not expecting anyone please do not open the gate to anyone.  You can see who is a the Gate by either checking the Doorbird screen or by asking the Alexa in the kitchen to "show front gate"

 

THE PHONE:

Our landline exist for emergencies.  The base is located in the office.  .

 

BEDROOMS:

Primary Bedroom:  California King Bed

  1. Television:  There are two remotes.  They are located on the bureau next to the bed.  The smaller one turns on the Television and provides access to the Smart TV functions.  You will also use this remote to turn up the volume,  Just press the microphone and say “volume 5” or whatever volume you would like.  The second remote controls the cable box.

  2. The Primary Closet:  has been locked off.  We have provided you with a clothing rack and hangers.  We asked that you do not take the hangers home with you.

  3. The Drawers: Both bureaus are available for you.

 

Secondary Bedroom: Queen Bed

    1.  The Secondary Closet:  has been cleared.  It can be locked if you wish.  The keycard to inlock is in the makeup table center drawer.  We have provided you with a clothing rack and hangers.  We asked that you do not take the hangers home with you.

    2.  To pull the shades down you just pull the bottom of the shade.  To make it go back up you just push it            up.

 

The Office:  Futon Bed

1.   There is not hanging rack in this room.

2.   Please let us know if you would like the futon made up prior to your arrival.  Otherwise all the linens and blankets are located under the futon in a plastic box.  Or in the wire drawers.

3.  To get the futon to lay flat just pull the entire couch forward before you attempt to lay the couch flat.  Pull the couch back forward first and then lay it back down.  We highly suggest one person sleep on this bed as it is really not made for two.  In the end it is what works for you.

 

**Extra blankets:

1.  Extra Blankets are located in a basket behind the couch.  These are for indoor use only.

2.  Blankets for outdoor use are located in a basket right next to the back door. (under the hot tub white towels)

 

THR GARAGE:

The garage is locked off both from the laundry room and the outside.  This is a locked off area and it will be considered Breaking and Entering if you enter the garage.  Please note there is a camera facing the garage.

 

THE DRIVEWAY:

Our car will be in the driveway.  If it is not you may use the driveway.  We will provide you a code.

​

STREET PARKING:

We have ample street parking.  We DO have street cleaning.

- There is NO parking on the South side of the street (this is the side opposite of  the house) on Mondays from 10AM to Noon.

  • There is NO parking on the North side of the street (this is the same side of the street as the house) on Tuesdays from 10 AM to Noon.

  • Otherwise there are no other restrictions.

  • FYI The street the T’s into our street, Aiken, does not have street cleaning at all.  You can park on Aiken at any time.

 

THE KTCHEN:

We have a fully stocked kitchen.

  • Pots and pans are located in the bottom drawer under the stove.

  • Silverware is in the drawer to the right of the large sink.

  • Dishes are located in the first drawer under the stove.

- Baking dishes are located in the drawer under the oven.

- Trays and flat baking pans are located above the oven.

- Spices are in a drawer to the left of the stove.

- Dish soap and other useful kitchen soaps are located under the large sink.

  • Kitchen towels are located under the prep sink

  • Toaster located on the Island (Please note there is a bagel slot with a bagel holder.  If you put toast in this slot without the holder it will be quite complicated to get the toast out.)

  • The water dispenser on the refrigerator has a tendency to freeze up.  Ice maker will continue to work if this happens.  We do have a Britta Filtered Water Pitcher in the refrigerator.  We change the filter regularly.

 

Glasses -

        Coffee mugs are located in the tall cabinets to the right of the stove.

  • Glasses are located on either side of the stove in the upper cabinets.

  • Wine glasses are in the glass cabinet above the island.

 

Refrigerator -

  • There is beverage refrigerator and the regular refrigerator. 

  • We do have a refrigerator in the laundry room.  Please note this is locked off.

We ask if something breaks the you please contact us so we can replace it or have it fixed.  All appliances are checked out before each guest arrives.

 

Coffee Maker(s)

We have both a Keurig and Nespresso machines.  We will provide a few Keurig pods to get you started.

​

  • Single serve capsules, compatible with Nespresso Original Line SysteM

  • K-Cup for Keurig Brewers

 

TRASH:

The trash is located in a pull out drawer/cabinet to the left of the sink.  The front is for regular trash and the back is for recyclable materials.  If you need to take the trash out to the cans - they are located behind the car in the driveway. 

 

FRIDAY is Trash Day - Friday early AM. The trash cans will be taken out on Thursday by the Rental Manager.  If you are not staying for a week or more do not worry about getting the trash to the cans prior to Thursday unless you just need it out of the house.  The cans are located in the driveway behind the car.

 

LAUNDRY ROOM:

We have both a washer and dryer.  The soaps are located over the sink.

Random rags are located in the laundry room as well.

 

LIGHTS:

1.  All Exterior Lights in the front of the house - are on timers.

2.  Side Yard - this is an exterior light that does illuminate the side yard.  IT TURNS ON BY MOTION SENSOR.

3.  Back Yard. There is a switch to light up the back yard. It is located right next to the back door. These are the eco friendly bulbs so they take a moment to brighten.  Currently this light is on a timer.  Please feel free to turn the light off if you so desire.

4.  Back Patio Lights - they are a bit annoying to turn on so we apologize for the terrible location.  If you are facing the Pergola; to the left just behind the Pergola is a box. Yes, you have to lean over the lower wall to see it - may require a chair to stand on.  You will see a box.  Lift the lid and there is a switch which turns on the lights.

4B.  There is also a larger switch which turns on the heater.  You must turn this heater off as it is NOT on a timer.

5. Front Patio Lights - These lights are on a timer.

5B.  The heater switch is locate on the back wall.  It is on a timer.  Just turn the timer and the heater will automatically go on.

 

 

HEATER/AIR CONDITIONER:

The Heater/Air Conditioner is located in the alcove next to the Secondary Bedroom.  The system is set to ECO mode which means it will keep the house cool in the summer and warm in the winter.  We ask that you not change the controls.  If you have specific temperature needs just let us know and we will change the temp remotely.  If you want to turn the heat up to get the house warm when the schedule has is at a lower temp. please do not go above 74. This house heats up fast and is very warm. 

​

Winter:  Heater will turn on in the early AM to warm up the house .  Will return to ECHO during the day and then warm up again around 6PM.

​

Summer:  Please do not turn the air conditioner on below 72.  

 

INDOOR/OUTDOOR CAMERAS:

Outdoor Cameras:  Front Yard, the Gate, the Driveway, the Porch and the Backyard.  Please note if any of the cameras are unplugged - guests could be asked to leave the property immediately  - no money back.   (This is in the contract you signed as well.)

 

Indoor Camera:  There is also a camera in the laundry room - it faces the garage door.

 

FAMILY ROOM TELEVISION and UNIVERSAL REMOTE:

There is one remote.  Located on the old school desk in the Family Room.  To turn the TV on point the remote initially right at the TV and press the Green POWER Button.  This will turn the TV on.  Now point the remote at the CableBox and Receiver.  Press the second Button on the right side of the remote CABLE POWER.  Give the TV a chance.. it thinks.   MENU button will lead you to the Guide where you can scroll through channels.

 

If you press the MAIN button you will see all of your options.

 

APPLE TV:

We do have Apple TV which will allow you to use Netflix, HULU, HBO Go and a some other options.  Please do not purchase a show/movie as it will ask for me to approve from my phone - There are plenty of options that are already paid for.  Thank You

 

SONOS:

We do have Sonos which you can play if you have the APP on your phone.  You will note we have speakers throughout the house and outdoor living areas.  You can select your areas.  Please remember to turn off the outdoor areas after 9PM and/or if you are leaving the house.

FAMILY ROOM FAN

If you are facing the television - there is a set of light switches on the right side.  The very first switch turns on the fan and the light associated with the fan.  If the fan does not automatically turn on, please locate the white remote (should be located in the Remote holder.)  On the remote you will see a button for both the fan ad the light.

 

PRIMARY BEDROOM TELEVISION and REMOTES:

There are two remotes needed to work this TV.  They are located in the basket on the dresser next to the bed on the left side.  To turn the TV on point the smaller remote at the TV and press the Red POWER Button.  This will turn the TV on.  Now point the larger remote at the CableBox and press the CBL button and the the POWER button.

 

Use the GUIDE button on the larger remote to find your desired channel.

 

VOLUME:  In order to change the volume you will need to press the MICROPHONE button on the smaller remote and say “volume five” (for example.). To mute the volume press the VOL button on the small remote.

 

APPLE TV:

THE INTERNET:

Please contact us if there is a problem with the internet.  It has just been updated so the speed and consistency should be quite good.

 

HOT TUB:
  1. Towels for the Hot Tub (WHITE LARGE TOWeLS)  are located just inside of the back door.

  2. Please bring them inside when you are done.  There are hooks next to the back door (inside).

  3. There are ORANGE outdoor cushions as well in the Bin.  They are also stored in plastic bags to keep them dry.
